Friday Prayer

Friday Prayer

Every Friday At Noon Time

“O you who believe! When the call is proclaimed for the Salat (prayer) on the day of Friday (Jumu’ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allah [Jumu’ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salat (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing), that is better for you if you did but know!”
(Holy Qur’an, 62:9)

Merits of attending Friday Prayer:
I. The holy Prophet (P): “Four groups of people may reset their deeds (i.e. their sins are forgiven): 1) a patient who is recovered, 2) a disbeliever who embraced Islam, 3) the one who returned from Haj, 4) the one who faithfully attended the Friday prayer.” (al-Nawader, p. 24)
II. Imam Sadiq (as): “No one walks towards the Friday prayer except the Almighty Allah prohibits his body from the Fire (Hell).” (Wasaelu-Shi’a, vol. 7 p. 297)
III. Imam Sadiq (as): “A man whose name was ‘Qolayb’ came to the Prophet (P) and complained that he could not afford the Hajj pilgrimage. The holy Prophet (P) said: Then do not miss the Friday prayer for it is the Hajj of the poor.” (Wasaelu-Shi’a, vol. 7 p.300)
IV. The holy Prophet (P): “When an employer does not hold back his employee from attending a Friday prayer he will share his reward (of attending the Friday prayer).” (al-Nawader, p.24)
