As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahe Wa Barakatoh

Gee.. Honestly I wouldn`t know where to start.

I mean I was baptized as a Catholic at birth and growing up I guess this is all I knew. During this time we attended church every Sunday, and went through the rituals of the religion. My mother was a religious person; however my father, being Church of England, never attended mass with us.

During my school years I cannot recall ever knowing a single Muslim. Whether this is because I grew up in a small town 3 hrs south of Sydney ? I`m not sure. But knowledge of the ways of Islam etc.. were almost non existent to me.

I am now separated from my partner of 7 years. Now that I am 24 with two children - During that relationship my partner and his family were all very religious Catholics. We always attended mass.

Having gone through the separation from my partner of 7 years I guess my outlook on life, and my priorities started to change. I STARTED TO LOOK FOR MORE MEANING TO LIFE AS I WENT THROUGH THIS CHANGE. MY MIND WAS PROBING AND ASKING MANY QUESTIONS BUT I WAS NOT FINDING THE ANSWERS TO MY SATISFACTION.

I became acquainted with a fellow work colleague who is a practicing Muslim. As you get to know your superior work colleagues you naturally get to know more about their personal lives also.

This person was such a calm, patient and collect human. AND I USED TO WONDER WHAT KEEPS HIM SO CALM?

I started to ask the odd question about Islam. I don`t know what triggered my curiosity? For some reason, I just became interested. I was drawn somehow to it.

My colleague started giving me books to read and answered all my questions. I FELT THAT I COULD ASK A LOGICAL QUESTION AND GET AN ANSWER - THE FAITH NOT ONLY DEPENDED ON BELIEVE BUT ALSO ON LOGICAL REPLIES TO ALL SORTS OF QUESTIONS.

WHILST I MAY NOT HAVE ACCEPTED ALL THE ANSWERS AS I WAS BROUGHT UP IN A DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENT I FELT THE ANSWERS WERE THERE WHICH WAS DIFFERENT TO WHAT I LEARNT GROWING UP.

It all just felt so right. I honestly don`t know how to explain it in words. I started to question my own religion FOR THE ANSWERS BUT I FOUND THE ANSWERS NOT FORTHCOMING. THIS CONFUSED ME AND I STARTED TO LOOK DEEPER INTO ISLAM. I RECEIVED BOOKS AND STARTED TO READ - STARTING WITH THE ATTRIBUTES OF ALLAH AND STARTED TO SEE THINGS CLEARER THAN BEFORE.

Months later, after a lot of reading up and thinking, I decided to attend a lecture held at the Imam Husain Centre at Earlwood.

From the minute I walked in the door, I was welcomed with smiles by the other sisters, I was treated so well!! I felt so comfortable. I ENJOYED THE LECTURE ALTHOUGH I DID NOT GET THE FULL BENEFIT AS THIS WAS MY FIRST ATTEMPT.

Anyway, I DECIDED I WOULD LIKE TO READ AND UNDERSTAND MORE ABOUT ISLAM. I GOT MORE BOOKS ESPECIALLY FOR THE BEGINNERS after some more reading and research I believed in my heart that there was only one GOD, that being ALLAH and His Messenger was Muhammad.

And I wanted nothing more then be reverted to Islam.

I don`t really know what else to say but thanks to ALLH my life has changed in a way that has made me a stronger person, a person that can see what life is really about and what our purpose in life is.

I am still learning, and Inshallah I will continue to learn more and more about this way of life that I have now adapted to and love so much.

I PRAY TO ALMIGHTY ALLAH TO SHOW ME THE RIGHT PATH AND KEEP ON THIS PATH FOREVER AAMEEN.
